About FFFFinance ​

FFFFinance is a local-first personal finance app built for New Zealand. It connects to your bank accounts through Akahu open banking, categorises your transactions automatically, and gives you a real-time dashboard of your financial life.

Everything runs on your machine. No accounts, no cloud, no middlemen. Your data stays yours.

Why ​

Most personal finance tools are built for the US market, require cloud accounts, and treat your financial data as their product. FFFFinance is the opposite:

  • Local-first -- your data lives on your machine in a SQLite database
  • NZ-native -- NZD formatting, GST at 15%, provisional tax dates, NZ bank connections
  • No subscription required -- the free tier gives you everything you need
  • AI-powered -- Freddy runs local models on your hardware, no data sent anywhere
  • Open banking -- real bank feeds via Akahu, not screen scraping

The Stack ​

Built with Electron, React, TypeScript, and SQLite. AI runs via node-llama-cpp with GPU auto-detection. Charts powered by Apache ECharts. 20+ themes, 7 fonts, fully customisable tiling layouts.

FFFFinance is made by MegaSuperSoft -- a small software studio focused on building tools that respect your data and your time.

License ​

FFFFinance is proprietary software. The source code is available for inspection on GitHub but is not licensed for redistribution or modification.
